Install the BeeApiary App

The BeeApiary app can operate independently without hive scales. In this mode, you can explore the app and use features that do not require data to arrive automatically from the scales.

A demonstration mode is also available. It simulates BeeApiary hive scales and lets you see how their data and related screens appear even if you do not yet have real scales.

App permissions

During the first launch, we recommend granting all permissions requested by the app. If you deny some of them, certain features may not work or may work incorrectly; behavior with every possible combination of restrictions has not been tested. To avoid complicating setup and troubleshooting, grant all requested permissions.

SMS permission is required for GSM

Receiving data through GSM will not work in the app at all without permission to process SMS messages. The app will be unable to read messages from the device, so measurements will not appear.

1. Open BeeApiary on Google Play.
2. Install the app. You can also find it on Google Play under the name Beekeeper notes.
3. Launch the app.
4. Grant all permissions requested by the app.
5. If you plan to receive data through GSM, make sure you grant the app permission to process SMS messages.
6. For GSM, add the physical device if necessary and enter the phone number of the SIM card installed in it.

Done: the app is installed and can operate without hive scales or in demonstration mode. Data from real BeeApiary hive scales can reach the app through GSM, a direct Wi-Fi connection to the device, the apiary Wi-Fi network, or Bluetooth. Compare the methods for receiving data in the app to choose the channel you need.
